PATTERN DETAILS

I've never been satisfied with the sock instructions in commercial pattern books. They would always come out too bulky, and although they were comfortable as slippers, I wanted socks I could wear all day with shoes!!! These are seamless (nothing to irritate those toesies), hug the feet and ankles, do not fall down, and I just love wearing them!!! Once you knit a pair, the second, third and so-forth pairs will be a piece of cake!! I used Knit Picks Stroll Sock yarn for the socks pictured, but the Patons sock yarns also work well. Although the pattern states these are sized to fit women, there is no reason you cannot knit a longer or shorter sock from the toes to the ankle bone, adjusting to fit most foot sizes. What is so nice about toe up socks is that you can try them on as you knit (do have at least three needles inserted into your live sts before trying to fit them over a foot though; two needles just won't work - I know; I broke a bamboo needle attempting it!!) BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knitting in the round on double pointed needles knit purl k1tbl - knit 1 stitch through the back of the loop GAUGE 6 sts and 10 rounds = 1 inch in stockinette st. 10 sts and 8.5 rounds = 1 inch in twisted knit rib st. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS will vary according to foot length; the ribbing pattern in the sock makes it very stretchy

Recommended with this pattern

  • 2 skeins sock yarn - each skein at least 166 yds or more
  • U.S. Size 0 double pointed needles
  • Row counter (keep track to make both socks even!!)

I have been knitting for 60 years and since the grandchildren arrived have been knitting daily. I decided I wanted to create easy predominantly seamless knitting projects because I love knitting in the round, and more important I hate to sew pieces together! I have had many wonderful comments from knitters who have created items from my patterns and like their finished projects, but should you come across a flaw or something that doesn't seem quite right in the instructions, I hope you will contact me! Contact me at woohoopepper@hotmail.com with any of your questions or concerns. You are free to sell your finished items, but please give me credit for the pattern. Thank you and happy knitting!
