My niece requested a scarf that is traditional, classic and functional. I looked at various patterns, but decided to create a one-of-a-kind by designing it from scratch. Then I remembered she has a sister and a sister-in-law, hence the Trio was born. They all use the same pattern stitch, just worked in different ways. It is a simple knit and purl pattern that adds great texture. Using sport weight yarn on US # 10 needles, gives it drape and lightness. This is a collection of 3 scarves 1. Becca - wide loop - knit flat, end to end and seamed - uses US #10 needles and 660 yards (604 m) of sport weight yarn - can be wrapped as cowl. Finishes ~ 44" (112 cm) circumference and 11" (28 cm) wide 2. Em - narrower, knit in the round, shows pattern stitches beautifully, uses US# 10 needles and 470 yards (430 m) of sport weight yarn- can be worn as a loop or wrapped as a cowl. Finishes ~ 52" (132 cm) circumference and 7.5" (20 cm) wide. 3. Kelly - long - straight two color scarf, long enough to wrap twice around neck or once with long tails - uses US# 8 needles and 460 yards Color A + 320 yards of Color B sport weight yarn. Finishes ~ 75" (190 cm) long and 7.5" (20 cm) wide. Gauges vary depending on the needle used. GAUGE See pattern notes PREFERRED BRAND/YARN See pattern notes COLORWAY Gray and Cream

I am a life long knitter, starting when about 10 years old. I've left the art at times, but returned in earnest about 13 years ago - with the birth of my first and only grandchild. I have a small family, one daughter and one granddaughter - who are "sweatered-out" as I say and aren't really interested in what I can create for them. Nor are they interested in learning how to knit. I've recently fallen in love with designing and am thrilled to offer my patterns for others to use. Enjoy the patterns and feel free to post comments! I love reading them
