Pattern Details

A very simple slip stitch pattern is the main feature of this snuggely baby blanket in two sizes. It creates a lovely soft, squishy fabric with enough cushioning for you to use it at playtime on the floor. Knit from easy care cotton or blends, but you can make it from wool as well. The reverse also looks nice, like a striped garter stitch, so basically, the blanket has two "good" sides. Perfect gift idea and also a great project for expecting mums, we all know how good knitting is for you, and this is a relaxing kind of project. A chart for the stitch is included in the instructions but it wont take a long for you to remember it off by heart. You can play around with the colour choices for the stripes to personalise your blanket. Would look lovely in primary colours or earthy tones. Pattern is Copyrighted and intended for personal use. I am a fashion/ textile designer and mother of six children. Over time I have designed and knitted as well as sewn hundreds of items of baby and childrens clothing. I am a designer specializing in innovative and practical children's wear that is timeless and understated. Sewing, knitting and designing for babies and children gives me special joy and freedom to be playful, nostalgic and quirky. I prefer natural yarns and fabrics as these don't just feel and look good, they also perform very well when used for children's garments. My belief is that children's wear should be fun, practical and comfortable as well as easy to care for. I am a highly creative person and there are a lot of artists, designers as well as dressmakers in my family and my great grandfather who was as a sewing machine engineer... Nothing quite compares with making something for your little one yourself. I encourage everyone with the urge to have a go. It's fun and a lot easier than you think! One of my daughters knitted a very simple blanket for her baby brother when she was 10 years old. It is by no means perfect but it has become a very special prized possession that both her and her brother will cherish for years to come. Empower yourself and have a go!
