Pattern Details

Named from the Latin word for Oak, Quercus cleverly adapts the traditional Shetland Fern Lace pattern to create an elegant shawl or hap. Absorbing yet easy to work, the design consists of four main pattern rows which are simple to memorise. New leaves emerge cleverly from a central spine in a very pleasing manner, only to gently tumble from a minimal border with a delicately fluted effect. I am Stella Elizabeth Ackroyd, formerly Stella Smith of Rowan Yarns, where I was in charge of pattern writing for many happy years. I now live in the Northumbrian countryside with my husband and giant schnauzer, Sooty, where I spend my time writing & editing knitting patterns for various spinners, and designing & knitting my own range of knitwear based on designs I make for my family and which reflect the feminine practicality of living in the Scottish Borders in the 21st century!
