The Portland Plaid Bag is a fun, updated take on a traditional style handbag. It is named for Portland, Maine which is a fun, quirky, unique, independently minded city, much like the plaid pattern. Random horizontal stripes and random vertical stripes create an unexpected plaid pattern. Use your own creativity to develop a unique plaid pattern or make the bag as pictured using the suggested pattern. You could also make it all one color, or with just horizontal stripes. A rolled edge along the bottom of the bag gives definition and helps the bag stand up on it's own. You can finish this bag with purchased leather handles or you can make felted handles. There are unlimited possibilities for making this bag uniquely your own! This bag is easy to knit, you will always be working with one color at a time, and there are no seams to sew, but you will have to weave in some yarn ends:) Pattern includes lots of pictures and complete instructions for felting your knitted bag in the washing machine. Your purchase also includes a free copy of my Simple Linings Tutorial which will show you how to line your bag with fabric. If you can sew a straight line, you can line your bag! Just email me when you receive your pattern and I'll send you the pdf file for the tutorial. My email is included with the pattern.
