How it works

  • This pattern was designed by a Craftsy independent design partner!
  • You'll purchase through PayPal and all profits go to the designer.
  • After purchase find your pattern in your pattern library.

A cosy and long pair of cabled mitts, to keep you toasty and snug on those lovely bright chilly days and to stop that cheeky wind from whooshing up your sleeve. Rather quick to make up, using less than 1 skein of yarn and suitable for either sex, this is an ideal Christmas or other gift knit. What's more, you can get 3 pairs from 2 skeins, which is really handy if you need to knit a few! Each mitt is knitted in the round, from the bottom up, in reverse stocking stitch with a traditional cable pattern running along the back of the arm and hand. The pattern gives instructions using the magic loop technique. There's a link in the pattern to a tutorial by Knit Picks on how to do the magic loop technique. Any experienced user of DPNs will be able to convert the pattern easily, if magic loop isn't your thing. The mitt is a good average size with plenty of stretch and will, therefore, fit most people. If, however, you're making them for a particularly small or large hand, this can be easily achieved by adding or removing a couple of sts - feel free to DM me if you would like help with this. Hi there! I have been knitting for many years, but only designing for around a year. I started after having worked in the beautiful knititng shop, Loop, in London. Such a fabulous array of talanted colleagues was extremely inspiring. It was my lovely colleagues that persuaded me to write up the pattern of the Birthday Shawl which I’d made for a friend’s special birthday. Please contact me if you have any problems with any of my patterns or if you’d just like a yarn suggestion, confirmation or even to discuss how to amend any of my designs to make them bigger, smaller or just a bit different.
