PATTERN DETAILS

"Mostly cloudy" that's what the weather reports say for most fall and winter (and spring!) nights here in Portland. This ribbed hat is the perfect solution for an evening chill, or even when it is still technically summer, but you can feel the rainy season starting to rear its head. This hat also works great in a cotton-blend yarn, if you want something cuddly, but not as warm. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knitting in the round Decreasing GAUGE 31-33 sts over 4 in. (33 sts over 4 in. is fine too) in unstretched 1x1 ribbing. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Adult S/M (Adult M/L). Fits 20 in. (24 in.) head around ears. This hat stretches a lot, so if you're unsure you'll probably want to knit the smaller size. SUGGESTED YARN 210 yards of DK weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Hazel Knits Artisan Lively

Supplies Needed

I have been knitting for a long time (since I was about 7!) and crocheting even longer -- lots of crafting, generally, as long as I can remember. For the past 15 years or so, my focus has been on knitting. I have been teaching knitting for about 5 years. I am a CYCA Certified Knitting Instructor. I teach a variety of knitting classes at Twisted in Portland, OR, where I get to spend my time with lots of wonderful knitters! I taught at the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, OR in 2011 and at Sock Summit 2011 in Portland, OR. I am always interested in trying out new forums to teach classes. I also teach private lessons for individuals or small groups. When I’m not knitting, I am an attorney practicing intellectual property law - that’s trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, etc., everything except writing patents. I work on both transactional and litigation matters related to intellectual property.
