I designed and knit this hat for my daughter and she LOVES it! I can't tell you how happy I am to see her put it on every morning as she walks out the door to the school bus. No reminders about "you might need a hat" because she wants to wear this hat. The hat is styled to sit low on the head....or position it a little higher on your head and it will have a bit of a slouch look. SIZE: This pattern is written for ONE SIZE which will fit most teen girls and women. When hat is on the model and positioned low on the head (back of hat is at the neck), hat measures 23 1/2" around head near bottom edge. This size will fit slightly smaller or slightly larger head size. YARN: I used Vickie Howel "Sheep(ish)" yarn (available at Jo-Ann's). The main darker color is Turquoise(ish) and the lighter color is Robin Egg(ish). The yarn is super soft and the color choices are very cute. This is a pretty good yarn for an economical price. I have been knitting since I was about 8 years old. My mother taught me to knit and my parents encouraged me to explore all kinds of arts & crafts activities by providing me with the materials that I needed to create. As a girl, I loved to sew (I spent hours using my mother’s sewing machine making clothes for my dolls), knit, draw and paint. In high school I spent all my extra time at school hanging out in the art room. In college I worked at a cute little yarn store and I still have some yarn in my stash that I bought at that store…way too many years ago! I love giving hand knit gifts to my friends and family. In these days of mass produced gifts (that often require a plug-in cord or battery) it is nice to give something that is truly one-of-a-kind. I love to see the smile on their faces when they open the gift I made for them. I enjoy knitting (of course!), teaching my daughter to sew, going to my son’s sporting events, baking, making jam in the summer, making homemade gingerbread houses in December, and going to the beach. I hope that you enjoy using my patterns to create special heirloom quality items for your home, friends & family.
