Looking for a one-of-a-kind baby blanket? A fun knit project that will have everyone wondering how you did it? Look no further. This design results from a convergence of two techniques: slip stitch mosaics and brioche. At first glance, you might think short rows were used to achieve the dynamic shifts in the pattern, but no short rows are used. And while the blanket appears to be worked using a 2-color stranded method, only 1 color is used at a time. The result creates a reversible, luxuriously squishy fabric with two distinct yet equally attractive sides. One side looks more like a traditional stockinette mosaic, but the fabric lays flat and does not roll as traditional stockinette must. The other side reveals a surprising textured effect, as shown in the side 2 photo. This unisex blanket is very warm, yet lightweight, and luxuriously scrunchy. The pattern works well when combining a neutral color with a variegated with long color changes, or using 2 contrasting solids.
