This lizard is knitted with a small amount of 4ply wool. Using a different shade for the underbelly gives a lovely realistic result. You will need less that 10g in all. This is a fairly straightforward knit. You will need two double-point needles (2.25mm), as there is some icord knitting and short rows. The body of the lizard is knitted in two pieces, so there is some seaming, and the legs are knitted separately and have to be attached. I tried other ways, but this seemed to give the most realistic results. I used craft eyes and beads, but if you are going to give this to a small child it is probably best to sew the eyes with wool. The inspiration for my knitting patterns often comes from nature. I love little knitting projects, and try my hardest to be realistic with my plant and animal designs. Often my projects start from something very personal: my own house or my husband's first car. Then I develop them into something that I think will be appealing. I live on the outskirts of London, and work part-time at a local school. My own children are always doing something creative. At school I love the days when we get really messy.
