This little purse can be knit in one day, then felted, allowed to dry and the hardware attached the next day. Instructions are given in the pattern for a Turkish Cast-On, which forms the closed bottom of the purse. If you don't want to try the cast on technique, you could probably do your regular cast on for double-pointed needles and then sew the bottom closed after finishing knitting. The purse is felted after knitting and before adding the handles and other embellishments. For the purse shown, I used Patons Tweed Classic Wool. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knitting in the round k1f&b - knit one stitch in the front and back of the loop k2tog - knit two stitches together GAUGE not really important to this project. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Will vary - mine are 8.25 inches in length and approximately 30 inches at the widest circumference at the bottom

Recommended with this pattern

  • 1 skein worsted weight wool (approx. 110 yds needed)
  • U.S. size 8 double pointed needles
  • U.S. size 8 16-inch circular needle

I have been knitting for 60 years and since the grandchildren arrived have been knitting daily. I decided I wanted to create easy predominantly seamless knitting projects because I love knitting in the round, and more important I hate to sew pieces together! I have had many wonderful comments from knitters who have created items from my patterns and like their finished projects, but should you come across a flaw or something that doesn't seem quite right in the instructions, I hope you will contact me! Contact me at with any of your questions or concerns. You are free to sell your finished items, but please give me credit for the pattern. Thank you and happy knitting!
