I divide my time between southern California, the island of Kauai and Barcelona ... so I need a durable cotton beach/pool tote and hat. The tote is an easy knit: it's knitted flat and the side edges are seamed together. The edging and handles are I-cords. I've attached a handy plastic key ring. Add a floppy cotton hat that doesn't mind a little sun and water and you're ready for fun in the sun. The hat is a simple design knitted in the round and the Sea Star is an easy to knit but if you prefer to add an embellishment of your own design, go for it! I hope you'll treat yourself or somebody you love to my cotton knitted tote and hat ensemble. If you have any questions as you work through the pattern, just contact me. I want you to have an enjoyable, successful experience and I'm always eager to help. Follow my blog at: I am certified as a Level 1 Master Hand Knitter by The Knitting Guild Association. My grandmother Lena taught me to knit when I was 4 years old and told me that a lifetime of knitting pleasure was her legacy to me. I love to design and knit and enter my work in competitions. I've won numerous awards and ribbons over the years and that's a lot of fun, but the greatest pleasure is the actual creative process. I specialize in Beginner and Intermediate level designs that teach new skills and promote excitement for the art that is Knitting. I think new knitters should have the opportunity to work with a well-written design that reinforces their current skills, teaches them new skills and gets a "WOW, you made that?!!?" response when showing off their completed project.
