A hug monster is an important addition to any household. He always has his arms open, waiting for a hug. He's big too, around 9.5" tall and 15" from hand to hand. Because his features are made of felt, you can really have fun making him (or her) look just the way you want. For an INTERMEDIATE KNITTER. The hug monster is mostly knitted flat on straight needles using short row shaping (fully explained in the pattern). The hands are knitted in the round from picked up stitches and contain increases and decreases. There is only one sewn seam. HINTS AND TIPS to help you with this pattern are available on my blog this is mentioned in the pattern. I'm an expat Brit living in the San Francisco Bay Area and a stay at home Mum. I'm also an avid knitter with many ideas for interesting designs using unusual construction and techniques. My Mum taught me to knit when I was 7 years old, I thought I'd forgotten it but when I came back to knitting 7 years ago I discovered that it was all still there. I love to knit in 3D and around corners, so I use knitting in the round and short row shaping in many of my designs. I'd also prefer not to sew lots of pieces together, so my knitted toy designs have as little sewing as I can manage.
