PATTERN DETAILS

This is so eye-catching and irresistible to the little ones - 3 years of age and older. It uses double-stranded yarn, so it is very warm, it covers the ears, and it has an extra layer of fiberfill at the very top to keep the head a little warmer. It is knit in the round and uses short rows for the earflaps. "How To" insructions are provided for creating short rows. It's really not scary at all! The wrap and turn (w+t) is a piece of cake and knitting the little wrap with the live stitch to close the gap is very easy as well. The hat uses only a stockinette stitch throughout. On the short rows, where both sides are worked, it is knit on the RS and purled on the WS. The rest of the hat is knit in the round, so it uses only the knit stitch. I love seamless knitting! Don't let the buttons scare you either! Just thread a sewing needle with a long double-stranded thread and begin layering and attaching all the way around the hat. No need to do each individually. I found the best and softest yarn for this project is Caron Simply Soft 100% acrylic yarn. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl short rows k2tog GAUGE 3.25 sts and 4.5 rounds in stockinette st SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 18" circumference 7" length - adjustments easily made for longer hat

I have been knitting for 60 years and since the grandchildren arrived have been knitting daily. I decided I wanted to create easy predominantly seamless knitting projects because I love knitting in the round, and more important I hate to sew pieces together! I have had many wonderful comments from knitters who have created items from my patterns and like their finished projects, but should you come across a flaw or something that doesn't seem quite right in the instructions, I hope you will contact me! Contact me at woohoopepper@hotmail.com with any of your questions or concerns. You are free to sell your finished items, but please give me credit for the pattern. Thank you and happy knitting!
