A nice scarf can dress up an otherwise plain outfit. This delicate lace scarf looks difficult, but it is not. It consists of two lace patterns, which are easily memorized. One lace pattern goes down the center back of the scarf, and the other lace pattern is added to each side of the center as stitches are increased. Furthermore, it is really economical, as it takes only 100 grams of sock yarn - which is the same as one pair of socks. You will start the pattern at the center back with the center lace pattern. You will be adding stitches on each right side row. The side lace pattern is added as the increased stitches permit you to add a whole pattern repeat. The pattern contains both written instructions and charts. This lace looks best in a solid color or a tonal yarn, as shown. A yarn with lots of color variation will obscure the lace pattern. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knit and purl, increase and decrease, use stitch markers. GAUGE 21 stitches and 52 rows per four inches in stockinette stitch, after blocking. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Finished size 50 inches (127 cm) across and 21 inches (53 cm) long at center back after blocking.
