PATTERN DETAILS

A Ghazal, pronounced 'huzzle', is an ancient Persian poem of love. The rhymes repeat in a familiar lilt, much like a sonnet. And the subjects, though always tied to love, are as varied as that most complex of emotions. Unrequited. Romanticized. Illicit. This cowl's pattern repeats with a flowing rhythm, making it a simple, enjoyable knit. Yet the options for yarn-weight and length, plus its beautiful blending of variegated colorways, give you endless possibilities. Knit it and fall in love over and over again. You can call me Kat. I lived and worked around the country, until happily settling in Portland, OR in 2009. My love of knitting blossomed back in 1998, adding to an ever-growing list of creative pursuits. A studio art major in college, I focused on print making, and my perpetual artistic mantra has been: beauty is found in simplicity. Today I use my art training to dream up new patterns with rich texture and visual impact. I am also the manager at Twisted, the friendliest, most well-stocked LYS in Portland, Oregon. My designs have been published in Twist Collective, the Malabrigo Freelance Pattern Project, the Rose City Yarn Crawl Pattern Collection, the Twisted Yarn Shop pattern line, and in collaboration with Blue Moon Fiber Arts, Knitted Wit, and Hazel Knits. When not at the needles, I spend my time gardening, skiing, rock climbing, surfing and mountain biking. I’m also an avid traveler who loves roaming near and far with my dog and my sweetie. (Yup, I changed my last name in 2013 when I got hitched! Previously my patterns were published under the name Kat/Katherine Buckspan.)
