I came up with the idea for these mitts when I wanted a pair of flip-top mittens, but didn't want the bulk of the mitten top on the back of my hand when I wore them as fingerless gloves. These gloves feature a removable mitten top that secures to the glove using buttons on the back of the hand, so the mitts are truly fingerless when the tops aren't on. NOTE: The pattern is the same for all sizes, size is determined by needle size and gauge. Small is about 7 stitches per inch, medium is 6 stitches per inch, and large is 5-5.5 stitches per inch. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY decreases buttonholes increases knitting in the round GAUGE 6 stitches = 1 inch in stockinette SUGGESTED YARN 220 yards of Fingering weight

I am a journalist and an avid knitter and crocheter. I work in breaking news for some papers in Connecticut, and love it. Yarn-wise, I have been crocheting since 2006 and knitting since 2008. My favorite things to knit are hats and gloves and shawls and socks, but I love making all sorts of things. I started out designing hats, then moved on to cowls and fingerless mitts, and am currently testing my first shawl pattern, so stay tuned!
