PATTERN DETAILS

Advent starts today, the time of waiting and preparation. This is my Advent gift for you: a free lace shawl pattern, just in perfect time for you to make a gift for your beloved ones for Christmas. Just find a skein of lace yarn in your stash and cast on this versatile crescent shawl. Even though the pattern isn(tm)t difficult, the three differnt lace sections will keep you entertained until you bind off. The shawl is extensively adjustable, as you can play with yardage and size at the end of each section. Changing the proportions of the sections will give your finished project a unique look. The name Fruit Cocktail was inspired by the beautiful handdyed one-of-a-kind yarn I was using. The pattern showcases the beauty of any long color changing or gradient yarn, but it will look classic and elegant too if you use solid or semisolid yarn. GAUGE In 4x4 10x10cm 22 sts and 33 rows in pattern (Chart B+C) Please note that in this particular project getting the right gauge is not essential. However, working with different yarn weight/gauge will affect both the yardage and the final size of the project as well. SUGGESTED YARN 1000 yards of Lace weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Bilum Hand Dyed Yarns Merino/silk lace (Filisilk) 2 ply (70% Merino, 30% Silk 656 yards 600 meters / 100g)

I'm a Hungarian woman living in Switzerland. When we moved here, I rediscovered knitting, and fell in love. In the beginning I knew only how to knit and purl. Then came lace, and cardigans, and now: designing, and dyeing, and who knows what next? 2013 - next is here: spinning, my new hobby! :)
