This triangular shawl is worked from the center out in a lace pattern that resembles large and small flames. It was inspired by Mary Chapin Carpenter's "A Keeper for Every Flame." The lace pattern is both charted and written. The pattern is easy to remember, and includes "resting" rows of purls on all the wrong side rows. The different shawl sizes are created by working extra repeats of one portion of the lace pattern. Yardage for each size: Xsmall - 300 to 325 yards (275 to 300 m) Small - 350 to 400 yards (320 to 365 m) Medium - 550 to 600 yards (500 to 550 m) BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY ssk, k2tog and sk2p decreases GAUGE 24 sts to 4" in pattern before blocking SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Xsmall - 25" x 16" (63.5 cm x 40.5 cm) Small - 46" x 21" (117 cm x 53.5 cm) Medium - 56" x 25" (142cm x 63.5 cm) SUGGESTED YARN 600 yards of Fingering weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Knit Picks Stroll Tonal COLORWAY Harvest

I've crocheted just about my whole life. I taught myself to knit in the early 2000s and haven't slowed down since. I've also gone through counted cross-stitch and needlepoint periods. I almost always modify knitting patterns I like, so in 2011 I started designing and publishing my own patterns. All of the patterns that I sell have been tech edited and test knit before release.
