The Extendo Shawl is worked from the bottom up, it's edging is worked first in two halves and grafted in the center. The body stitches are then picked up across the top of the edging and worked with decreases at the edges and center seam so that the shawl seamlessly tapers to the top. Optional beads add both weight and texture to this piece creating a fabric that is knit though it appears woven. The Extendo stitch, while looking quite complex, is easily memorized and repeats itself throughout the entire body of the shawl. Video links are included for the tricksy bits! I live in upstate New York, where the sunny season is short, leaving plenty of time to be indoors knitting. Despite holding a degree in apparel design from Cornell University, I took to knitting years ago and I haven't looked back. Currently, I'm enamored with lace and incorporating beads into knitted jewelry, so most of my designs lean in this direction. I travel often to teach these techniques and more at workshops around the country and online with Craftsy. I have a line of knitting kits, self-publish patterns and run mystery knit-alongs multiple times a year. You can find some of these designs in my book, Knockout Knits. When I'm not designing or knitting, I'm gardening, whipping up yummy feasts with my family and taking time to play! Recently, I've developed a healthy addiction to yoga and I'm determined to master a tripod headstand and handstand!
