Add some knitting flair to your Christmas decor with these three ornament patterns! Basic stockinette (great for featuring those beautiful self-striping yarns), a bit of lace, or cables are all sure to brighten your tree. Insert a purchased ball ornament (I love the plastic ones) or stuff with fiberfill. All three patterns are written with instructions to work either in the round or flat with a small seam. This is a great pattern to use up leftover sock yarns! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit, purl, simple lace, simple cable GAUGE 8 sts = 1" in stockinette stitch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS one size SUGGESTED YARN 50 yards of Fingering weight

Supplies Needed

  • US#2 dpn for working in the round or US#2 straight needles for working flat
  • one purchased ball ornament (approx. 8.5" circumference) or fiberfill
  • cable needle (for cabled ornament)

I began knitting model garments for the yarn industry, and at the same time, working on some of my own designs. I then began doing freelance designing and my patterns have appeared in the collections of Classic Elite, Fiber Trends, Tahki Stacy Charles, Lion Brand Yarns and others, and have been published by Interweave Press, Knitters, Knit1, Cast On, Knit It and Annies Attic. In 2001, I launched my own business, Lisa Knits, a line of knitwear patterns that are available in yarn shops across the country.
