In Old English, the daisy was called "day's eye" for its habit of opening at the first light of dawn and shutting as the light faded. Common but never unexceptional, the daisy is one of my favorite flowers. The tangled cables of this comfy hat travel up and twist themselves into a nine-petal daisy on top, making any day a little sunnier. Knit in soft merino wool, the twisted stitches pop against a reverse stockinette background to make an unusual and pretty chapeau for a cool spring day.
