A soft, warm and easy to wear cowl is almost a necessity in the northern hemisphere in the winter. Here in upstate New York, temperatures can get well below zero, without counting the wind chill. This cowl is an easy knit project that will provide warmth with a bit of style. So if you are out on the slopes skiing or just out for a brisk walk, knit up this fun cowl to keep the cold at bay. The possibilities for design elements are endless by adding beads, buttons or color changes. Or simply knit the basic design without the leaves for a manly version. Finished project measures approximately 18 inches in circumference on the top and 6 inches wide. Gauge is not critical but should be at least 4 to 4.5 stitches to the inch working slipped ribbed pattern. Cowl is worked in the round starting at the top working down on circular needles. The leaves are knit using i-cord on double pointed needles. I've been knitting all my life and currently spend most of my waking hours thinking about new ways to knit classic accessories. I love to spin my own yarn, learn new knitting techniques and get creative with felted wool.
