Pattern Details

This 15-page pattern creates a crisply textured Christmas stocking with an I-cord border and hanging loop, a garland band at the top and a cabled pattern on the leg and foot. The pattern contains both written instructions and charts, along with illustrated tutorials for three techniques used in the stocking. Instructions are also given for grafting the ends of the I-cord together to form the hanging loop. I have listed "skills necessary" here, but most of these techniques are described in the pattern instructions; it is not really necessary to already know how to do them. I listed them to give the knitter an idea of what is involved in making this stocking. If you have questions about a specific technique, email me at and I can tell you if the technique is described and/or illustrated in the pattern. Technique Features: Picking up and Knitting Stitches from I-cord Making a Bobble Gwennie's Increase ( a unique way to make a knitted increase) The pattern is intended for the personal use of the purchaser, and is not meant to be used commercially. I was taught the basics of knitting, crochet, embroidery, and sewing by my grandmother when I was young. I have found that I enjoy doing a variety of fiber related crafts, and have over the years learned to spin yarn, weave, tat, braid, felt and bead. But the greatest satisfaction for me comes from using my God-given creativity to create my own designs and techniques.
