Celtic Medallion mittens are traditional colorwork mittens with two color ribbing and a peasant thumb. The motif designs were taken from early Pictish artwork and the Book of Kells. The key pattern design on the palm is adapted from the Nigg Stone, an 8th century Pictish cross-slab, located in the parish church in Easter Ross, Scotland. The combination of colors is inspired by an early celtic bowl. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knitting in the round, stranded knitting with two colors, reading a chart, and Kitchener stitch.
