Pattern Details

Carol’s frequency uses frequent short row turns with a technique called “Knit the Turn” that eliminates the need for wraps at each turn. This allows you to move quickly creating waves of color that shift as you move through this captivating pattern. Finished piece using 2 Crazy Zauberballs of approx 800-840 meters (or another 2ply color shifting yarn such as those listed) will produce a beautiful and versatile shawl. The pattern allows you to shorten or lengthen the shawl as you prefer which means you can use slightly less or more of the yarn you have available to you. However a yarn that changes color independently over 2 plys is suggested to achieve the color-shifting effect. Gauge is 11 stitches and 15 rows for 2 inches of stockinette stitch with 3.25mm needles. PLEASE NOTE: I am a continental knitter and typically my gauge is much looser than most. You may require one or two needle sizes larger to obtain the ideal gauge. The good news - exact gauge is not critical for this pattern as you can continue or stop at the desired size. Because the final edge of the work will contain many stitches, you may decide to use two circular needles to make knitting easier for you. The pattern calls for many stitch markers and depending on how large you prefer your shawl, you may require 20-30 stitch markers. Like most of my patterns, Carol’s Frequency can be worn no matter what size you are. This means that even if you lose or gain weight - this wardrobe staple can transition to your new wardrobe easily. Unsure about this Short Row technique? Don’t be. Purchased pattern features detailed illustrations, description and video tutorial.
