This is a re-creation of a stitch pattern from an afghan I made in 1970. I lost the original pattern but really liked the design and wanted to use it again. The scarf uses a single repeat of the pattern, plus a few edge stitches. 360 yards of DK should produce a scarf about 60" (152cm) long. The pattern includes basic directions for the scarf plus written directions for the stitch pattern as well as a chart. The original afghan used 8 repeats, a slightly wider edge, and (if I remember correctly) called for 60 ounces of worsted weight wool. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY This is a simple lace pattern using different methods of increasing and decreasing the stitch count across a row. GAUGE 8 sts to the inch (2.54 cm) in pattern on US 7 (4.5mm) needles SUGGESTED YARN 366 yards of DK weight

Recommended with this pattern

  • 183 yds (167 m) of DK weight yarn will produce a scarf about 7" wide and 30" long (17.75 x 76 cm) using US 7 (4.5mm) needles

I started knitting as a child. Over the years I used a lot of patterns written by others. At some point I decided to experiment and create things from my own designs. A few years ago I started writing up my patterns for others to use. I hope you enjoy my efforts.
