PATTERN DETAILS

Bethesda's Socks were inspired by John Warley's book: Bethesda's Child: a compelling story that takes place in Washington DC and centers around the prevention of genetic engineering, a presidential campaign, and a tangled love interest. The simple to knit cables twisting down the sides of each sock represent the complex structure of DNA and the twists and turns that take place in Bethesda's Child. These fun socks begin with cuff down construction and the pattern includes both written and charted instructions. The cables are simple enough to knit on your summer road trip, while adding enough zip to the pattern so you won't get bored along the way. No one wants to hear "Are we there yet?" when you are just leaving the driveway! Instructions are given for using four double pointed needles, but can easily be converted for using the magic loop method, two circular needles, or your preferred sock knitting method. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knit (K) Purl (P) Cabling GAUGE 30 stitches and 44 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS S, M, L to fit a foot 7.5", 8.5", 9.5" in circumference. The Blue Ridge Mountains form the backdrop for my home in Central Virginia. It’s a beautiful area and the surrounding countryside provides inspiration for many of my designs. The ever changing colors of the seasons remind me of the hand dyed yarns that I enjoy using in my designs. I strive to create patterns that are fun to knit and easy to follow. I hope that you will enjoy knitting them as much as I have enjoyed designing them.
