" midwinter Gandalf and Bilbo had come all the way back, along both edges of the Forest, to the doors of Beorn's house, and there for a while they both stayed. Yuletide was warm and merry there, and men came from far and wide to feast at Beorn's bidding." -"The Hobbit" by J. R. R. Tolkien This heavily-cabled, shawl-collar cardigan is inspired by wide fireplaces, large mugs of mead, and toast with butter and honey. The upper and lower body of this cardigan are picked up from the waistband, which is knit first. The cardigan is designed to fit with 2-4" of positive ease. Sarcastic Stitches
I learned to knit in 2001 while recovering from an illness and quickly began modifying patterns and then designing my own garments. My designs have since been seen in Knitty, Interweave Knits, Knitscene, and on Boing-Boing. I started designing cross-stitch patterns when I couldn't find patterns that were the right mix of traditional and sarcastic.
