Batana is all about getting to use those special buttons you have in your stash! I don't know about you, but I hoard unique buttons, and then never have anything to do with them... this scarflette with it's shaped lace border and garter stitch body is the perfect solution! Interested in the gorgeous button I chose? It's from handmade porcelain by my friend Melissa : )! To achieve the matching shaped borders, Batana is worked in two halves and grafted at the center back! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knit, work basic lace stitches, follow a pattern 1-1.25 inch SPECIAL button (mine is from Melissa Jean Designs) GAUGE 22 sts/30 rows (15 ridges) = 4 inches in garter stitch, blocked SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 4.5 inches at widest point by 24 inches long SUGGESTED YARN 75 yards of Sport weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Blue Sky Alpaca Metalico COLORWAY Platinum

I live in upstate New York, where the sunny season is short, leaving plenty of time to be indoors knitting. Despite holding a degree in apparel design from Cornell University, I took to knitting years ago and I haven't looked back. Currently, I'm enamored with lace and incorporating beads into knitted jewelry, so most of my designs lean in this direction. I travel often to teach these techniques and more at workshops around the country and online with Craftsy. I have a line of knitting kits, self-publish patterns and run mystery knit-alongs multiple times a year. You can find some of these designs in my book, Knockout Knits. When I'm not designing or knitting, I'm gardening, whipping up yummy feasts with my family and taking time to play! Recently, I've developed a healthy addiction to yoga and I'm determined to master a tripod headstand and handstand!
