Inspired by a sweater I have, I realized that this open basketweave stitch would make a great baby blanket. The pattern is written in a line by line format and includes a chart for the basketweave pattern which repeats over 8 rows. Using only knit and purl stitches this is a great pattern for a beginner knitter ready to take on a simple openwork pattern. This blanket is knit in one piece, back and forth on a circular needle to accommodate the large number of stitches. The final size is 28" x 36" (70cm x 90cm). Instructions are provided on how to make the blanket larger or smaller. A worsted weight/#4 yarn in cotton, cotton blend or acrylic is recommended, making for a beautiful soft and washable blanket perfect for crib, stroller or pram. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl GAUGE 4"x4" (10cm x 10cm) in basketweave pattern on 5.5mm/UK5/US9 needles = 16 stitches and 20 rows SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 28" x 36" (70 x 90cm) SUGGESTED YARN 625 yards of Worsted weight

Originally from the UK, and after almost 13 years in Texas, I now live in beautiful Colorado with my husband and sons. Easily outnumbered by boys in my house, I am queen of my little realm, hence the title Ladyship! Ever since my Mum taught me to knit and sew I have loved the creative process and experimenting with design. I find pillow covers to be the perfect way to combine my love of design and the textures that can be created with a single strand of yarn. I especially love experimenting with cable patterns.
