Ananda is the Sanskrit word meaning 'harmony' and 'bliss'. As knitting has been described as the new yoga through its repetitive rhythm and the meditative state it induces, this is an excellent opportunity to creatively connect the two disciplines with the practicality of a yoga mat tote bag. The bag is knit in the round and features a drawstring closure and knitted handle. Once completed, it's then felted to add density and stability to the fabric so the tote bag doesn't 'sag' with the weight of the yoga mat. I learned to hand-knit at the age of 5 through my grandmother and have always cherished this as one of the greatest gifts of my life. It has provided me with a vehicle for my creative expression and I believe that knitting is firmly embedded in my DNA.
