When I was in kindergarten there was a girl in my class named Allison who wore her thick, brown hair in beautiful braids. Even though I have not thought about her in a long time, I was reminded of those braids when working the cables for this scarf. Knit in a chunky weight yarn, I especially love the edges that form naturally. After casting on and working two rows, this project is worked in three columns of intarsia (segments). Each segment is worked with its own skein of yarn. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY working cables intarsia experience helpful but not required GAUGE 16 sts and 20 rows = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS one size, finished measurements 56" length, 8" width SUGGESTED YARN 450 yards of Chunky weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Cascade Yarns Big Wheel

Recommended with this pattern

  • US#10/6.0mm straight needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • cable needle
  • Bulky weight variegated yarn with long color changes; 450 yards
