Project

Kumihimo meets David Christensen

Who is this project for? Women What are you most proud of? I like how the necklace flows from the beaded kimihimo through to the Swarovski crystals. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make sure you use a weight to create consistent tension on the braid or your braid and beads will have a lumpy look. Lots of extra clon thread is a must or the weight of the beads will strip the thread out of your bobbins and you will be playing pickup!!!

You Can Make This

TjeCan made Kumihimo meets David Christensen with:

  • Swarovski crystals
  • jewel toned #8 Czech seed beads
  • David Christensen furnace glass focal pendant Bali beads.

Q&A with TjeCan

Ipanema asked:
I love this necklace. It is exquisite. The gradation of your beads' color beautifully compliments your Furnace Glass. The effect is masterful.
TjeCan answered:
Thank you! I have had some of his focal pieces for over a year and I have tried many different things with them and nothing did them justice. Then I learned kumihimo and it came together. I can't wait to experiement with some of the other pieces now!
seiira asked:

I don't have this necklace anymore. I donated it to Beads of Courage so I can't give specific materials. I might try writing a tutorial sometime soon.
