Amethyst Statement 2

Who is this project for? Women What are you most proud of? Actually, when putting together Statement No. 2 necklace, I liked the look of the bead combinations surrounding the focal bead so I incorporated that particular arrangement into a pair of baroque earrings to match. They are large and ornate earrings, but they do draw the eye to both themselves and their accompanying necklace. I'm proud of the resulting "Look at me!" set. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Probably the most important thing to consider is the total weight of the finished project. This necklace is heavy -- not for the faint of heart. I could have cut down considerably on the weight by replacing the 10 mm Cape Amethyst beads with a pretty silver chain, but the whole idea was to find a way to use the Cape Amethyst which were SUCH a good buy at $1.29 per strand!

You Can Make This

Q&A with Rockland Rocks

roberta.l109713 asked:
very nice set, the large focal piece looks a lot like labradorite, I love the shape -it adds a contrast to the round beads.
Rockland Rocks answered:
Just my poor photography because it lacks the chatoyance of labradorite. It is a very dark amethst cut with some large facets in a twist shape.
