"Cote d'Azur" knitted & beaded necklace

Project Description

Who is this project for? Women What are you most proud of? Since I'm new to making jewelry, I'm really proud of figuring out that I have to find a way to balance the weight in order to make a necklace comfortable to wear; if not, it will constantly be shifting position (something that would drive me nuts). In this case, adding the crystals and pearls really helps balance the weight of the starfish. I tried the starfish in several different positions before finalizing the design. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I haven't yet written instructions for this necklace because it is a little more complex than some of my others, with the addition of the pearl-and-crystal strand plus the little strand of just crystals; this requires more jewelry-making skill than I can accurately describe in words at this point. However, if you feel confident in your jewelry skills and want to try it, the pearl strand is strung on copper wire, the crystal strand is on a long copper eyepin (I opened the eye end to attach it to the inside of the knitted cord, then made a loop at the other end of the pin). These 2 strands are then connected with jump rings to the copper chain. The other end of the pearl strand is simply wrapped around the inside of the knitted tube to secure it. If you'd like more details, please feel free to e-mail me!
