Seaside Coasters

What are you most proud of? I just chose a block from one of my crochet books, and it turned into some nice-looking coasters with the addition of reverse-single-crochet (crab stitch) edging. What advice would you give someone starting this project? You don't always have to have a pattern. Let the yarn speak for itself, and use your books and patterns for inspiration. Then make something of your own design!

You Can Make This

Debbie C. made Seaside Coasters with:

  • Bernat Handicrafter cotton yarn (color: Hippi)

Q&A with Debbie C.

Noraida asked:
Hi I really like the shape and the fact that it will work with variegated color yarn! Is this pattern available and where?
Debbie C. answered:
Thanks! I used a book called "Super Finishing Techniques for Crocheters", which has all kinds of edgings, trims, fastenings, construction techniques, and other useful information on crochet. The hexagon medallion instructions are in a section called "Crochet Basics". Figuring you may not want to buy the book, I found a similar set of instructions online at http://robotrish.com/post/395617972/how-to-crochet-a-hexagon-pattern, or you might even be able to find an instructional video on YouTube, who knows? Good luck!
Noraida asked:
Thank you so much! Will do!
Debbie C. answered:
When you make it, will you publish it on Craftsy? I'd love to see :)
