Project

Crocodile stitch baby booties

Project Description

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Not really an advice, but so you know... This is my second and third pair of booties I made (same pattern, different yarn and colors) The pink and white one is made with must smaller yarn, so I used the two color at once and I made the 6 to 12 months size one. I had to add some rows in the body part so it was the same height. The result with this size of yarn is a much smaller bootie, even if I used the 6 to 12 months pattern. It is the good size for a newborn baby. The multi-color one is a 0 to 6 month pattern with regular yarn.

What you will need

  • different yarns
  • some I already had
  • other I bought

Q&A with Foxygirl22

Caracol asked:
They are all very lovely. I think my favorite is this multi=variegated colored yarn and wondering then from your comments if we can make the booties then with baby yarn (Dk weight). I don't have any fingering yarn. I only have baby #3 weight yarn and #4 weight yarns in medium weight like Caron's Simply soft. Lots of Bernat Softee yarn and other yarns that are all in the #3 baby yarn weight. So just wondering if this is o.k. and what size to select.?
Foxygirl22 answered:
Hi! I'm not sure which one is your favorite between the one in pink-blue-yellow with yellow button or the one in coulors shading off into one another with blue button... In any case, you can do the pattern with #1, #3 or #4 weight yarn... The pink-blue-yellow with yellow button is a #3 yarn with a 3.5mm hook if I remember well... The one in coulors shading off into one another with blue button is a #1 yarn and I used a 3mm hook. You can use the yarn you want, you just have to ajust the hook size with it and it will give you a bigger or smaller bootie size. If you have some more questions, don't hesitate! :)
