Crochet Lace Bookmark

I made this bookmark while taking the Craftsy class "Classic Crochet Openwork" with Jennifer Hansen. The photo is of Therese de Dillmont, who wrote the book "Masterpieces of Irish Crochet Lace" back in the late 1800s. She also for a time ran the DMC company that makes so many of the fiber arts products we all use. I laminated a photo of Therese that I found with a google search, then used a small hole punch (the kind used to make additional holes in a watch band or belt) to pierce the edge of the photo so I could crochet around it.

Q&A with ktraxler

sdjobes asked:
Beautiful! I wish we had some old photos of the Moores to use!
ktraxler answered:
I know--I only have a few of Hannah in her later years. I plan to make one of these bookmarks for my sister, using a photo of our Irish grandmother who taught me to knit and crochet. I have a piece of lace she crocheted over 100 years ago.
