PATTERN DETAILS

I set out to make a regular basket weave hat, but as I was starting, I decided to make something different. I pictured shingles or planks, layered, and in uneven rows. Being that I am a huge fan of ABC's Once Upon a Time, and I designed it on the date of the premiere of season 3 - I wanted it to have a name that had something related. Someone on my Facebook page suggested Hook and Plank. I love the double meaning. Hook, of course is my crochet hook, and plank the design. But then there's HOOK, as in Captain Hook, and plank relating to his ship - the Jolly Roger. I thought it was perfect! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY ch - chain hdc - half double crochet dc - double crochet fpdc - front post double crochet bpdc - back post double crochet bl - crochet in back loop only GAUGE At the end of row 2, you should have a 2" circle SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS teen to adults

I am a happily married work-at-home mom of 4 children. 3 are adults (did I just say that?) and my baby is a teen. I've always been crafty and creative. I learned basic crochet as a young girl. Didn't really pick it up again until I wanted to crochet for my babies. Then I took a LONG break while I was very into tole painting. Then technology entered the picture. I started up a graphic design business.. Suddenly, I felt the urge to crochet again and ended up opening my own crochet business at the end of 2009. I named it Harvester Products after the meaning of my name - Teresa. It really took off once I started making character hats in 2011. There is not a day that goes by without me crocheting. I am either working on orders or creating a new design. It's relaxing and fulfilling and I can't imagine ever NOT doing it!
