PATTERN DETAILS

*** Pattern was revised and tested Dec 2014 *** I love granny squares, and had to design fingerless gloves around this icon of the crochet culture. These are made litterally working "around a granny square" (that's the title of the ebook I wrote about granny squares, and which includes this design), with warm fabric on the inside of the mitts, and a shaped thumb. The mitts close around the wrist with 2 pretty buttons. Pattern is richly illustrated with tons of pictures showing each step of the construction of the mitts, and detailed instructions. Permission to sell your finished items. :-) BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY You'll need to know the basic crochet stitches: how to chain, single-crochet and double-crochet. If you have already made a granny square before, it will make it easier. GAUGE A four-rounds Granny square measures 4" = 10 cm SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS The mitts are made to fit an average woman's hand. You can easily size them up or down using a larger/smaller hook and a different yarn weight : I used dk yarn and a 4 mm/Size G hook for the pink & plum mitts, and they fit my 4 year old' little hands.. PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Noro Silk Garden

  • Noro Silk Garden : 1 skein in Color A and 1 skein in Color B.
  • 5 mm / Size H crochet hook
  • 4 buttons, approx. 1.5 cm - 1/2 inch diameter

Sylvie Damey
Bonjour! I'm Sylvie Damey, french designer living in the french Alps. I learned to knit as a child, but taught myself to crochet a few years after my first daughter was born and I had started making things for her... Soon crochet completely took over knitting; crochet is so liberating and enpowering. I love to crochet clothes for my daughters or myself, always focusing on what I'd love to wear on a daily basis ... and what makes me happy ! :-) I'm a visual learner, so you'll find that I always add several in-progress pictures to my patterns so you always know what you're meant to do next.
