I've been making small crocheted treasure boxes for about 20 years, but when a good friend requested one for her mother I knew I couldn't use just the standard pattern I had been using. It needed to be a special piece for a special lady! Read the story here- These boxes can be worked in any of your favorite solid or variegated colors, and can be embellished or left plain. The crochet stitches used are not difficult, and I include step-by-step directions for starching your completed project. Also included are directions for the tiny crocheted flowers and leaves. This treasure box is designed to be starched over a 12 oz tuna or chicken can as a drying form; any other cylinder 4 inches across by 2 inches high would work. You will also need on hand some cornstarch to cook your own starch (instructions included) or your preferred alternate starching method or brand of commercial fabric stiffener. All of the patterns found on Craftsy are available for instant download only. Once you have purchased a pattern it will be immediately added to your Craftsy account where you will have the ability to download it. Heritage Heartcraft
~Heritage Heartcraft, heirloom quality thread crochet by Cara Louise Reitbauer~ I have been crocheting since about 1974 at age 8 when my mother taught me with regular yarn and larger crochet hooks. A year or so later, she found a bag that had been her mother's which contained some gorgeous doilies her mother had made, along with some skinny crochet thread and some impossibly small steel crochet hooks. I fell in love on the spot, created my very first doily without any pattern by copying one of hers, using her hooks and her thread. I have been designing and crafting small articles such as doilies, coasters, snowflakes and angels ever since! (Although I do confess to using patterns too!) Every time I make something I feel a kinship with the grandmother I was never able to meet, and so her spirit is alive in me- all these years later, and still use her hooks, which are now over 60 years old! I've got sites all over the web!
