When I designed these window treatments, I wanted a unique conversation piece for my window. My husband's response to my idea for crocheted panels and a valence was, "Nobody has crocheted curtains." Perfect! I also had several skeins of any itchy wool yarn that was a beautiful color but not soft enough, in my opinion, for clothing, so the yarn became curtains instead. The nice thing about this pattern is that you really can adapt it to suit your style. You control the size, so it can be used just as a valance or for panels, you can make each piece wider for fuller curtains, or just make it wide enough to cover the window. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Chain Stitch Single Crochet SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Customized to fit your window

Recommended with this pattern

  • Yarn of your choice (I used wool)
  • Tapestry Needle to weave in ends

I have been crafting since I was a little girl, partly because I don't like to just sit still and do nothing! I love the feeling of finishing a project, and I love the reaction when I give a special handmade gift to one of my children or a friend. There is something very special about making something that no one else has. If you have tried out any of my patterns, the first thing you probably noticed is that they are EASY! Why? While I love a good challenge as much as the next girl, I also like to knit and crochet to unwind after a long stressful day at the office. I often (always) work on my projects while watching TV or a movie or while spending time with my three children who like to talk... sometimes at a very fast pace and all at once. :) An easy pattern is a requirement for me. I hate frogging or as I call it un-knitting. I've made it a bit of a mission to create patterns that look difficult and impressive but actually aren't. I really hope that you enjoy making them as much as I did.
