As a child I was fascinated by the fashions that I saw in historical movies and spent hours drawing my own versions these dresses. Around the same time I learned how to knit in Brownies and was thrilled to earn my Knitter’s badge. I knew nothing about patterns back then so when I wanted clothes for my Barbie doll I sat down with my only pair of knitting needles and a ball of yarn and figured out how to make sweaters and skirts for her. I improvised a way to keep my stitches from unraveling because I had only learned how to make the stitches, not how to cast them off. I could not have foreseen that these early childhood experiences would plant a seed that years later would grow into me designing full-time. I have the best job in the world. I feel very blessed!
