Zombie Cake - 3D

Project Description

Do you sell this cake? Yes Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake This is my 2nd Zombie cake... instead of repeating all that I did please refer to the female version of my zombie cakes for more info. Thanks. What are you most proud of? The bday girl absolutely loved it & she really liked the oozing of the "blood" when she cut into it!! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Details make a word of difference. Put stitch lines on clothes, buttons & pockets. I pulled at edges of the shirt all around to make it appear as his shirt was ripped. I didn't make this one as "bloody looking" as my first one.

Hi Deanna, AWESOME tutorial. I notice you said you make your own fondant. What recipe are you using. I just like the way it seems to work well with this project and I want to follow your instructions to the letter. Thanks in advance for answering.
DeannaSB answered:
Thank you. I found the recipe on CakeCentral.com under "Rhonda's Ultimate MMF Fondant". Have a great day.
Cocbuddr asked:
Hey Deanna! One more question. I notice that when yu made the core board chin, your instructions said to sandwich a washer between the two egg shaped pieces then taper. What is the purpose of the washer? Or did I misunderstand the instructions?
DeannaSB answered:
i think i did it that way for stability?? I'm pretty sure i sunk the nut into the coreboard, so when i tightened down the nuts they would only be able to go as far as the washer. Your main concern is stability - do what works for you.

What are the egg shape pieces I'm making a zombie cake this month and I think I understand u r tutorial all but the building part
DeannaSB answered:
those pieces are for the base of the head for the rice krispie treats to sit on. it would be the chin & jaw - then build it up with modeling chocolate for more detail. it's made out of 1/2" thick core board. hope that helps you.
