Ocean themed birthday cake

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake This cake was a vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and buttercream fondant. The figures and other elements were made with modeling chocolate. The sand was crushed ginger crackers and brown sugar. The water is colored gel. What are you most proud of? I wanted to make the cake look more like water so I tried to make the fondant have a wavy look. I really liked the way it looked. I also wanted the animals to look really cute and whimsical. I like they way they turned out as well. My daughter absolutely loved it! What advice would you give someone starting this project? My advice on making a cake like this is make sure you manage your time. The animals need to be made in advance to give you plenty of time to assemble the cake.
