This cake was made as a sampler for some new border lessons I am working on for a new Craftsy class! All of the tiers are covered with Rolled Fondant, and the piped details are Royal Icing. My sample here is just that, a sample, and not meant to be consumed, so Royal Icing is my go-to icing. If this sample cake were to consist of all cake, I would then switch to a standard buttercream for the "heavy" piped details, but still use Royal Icing for the delicate "lattice" piping, "grape" clusters and all delicate stringwork. I painted the gold areas with "super gold" & "super pearl" lustre dusts, but one could def leave this cake all white & classic.
