Great stenciling! Did you use the dust as paint, or did you dry dust it? Did you stencil before you put the fondant on the cake or after? How did you secure the stencil to the fondant? I just tried stenciling with luster dust last night and part of the pattern turned out awesome and then part of it was a complete disaster, so I'm curious about your technique!
Just Delightful answered:
It is a dry dust and I did it after applying the fondant. I used tape to secure it and the held it on with my hand to match up the design on the back. I used a big fluffy kabuki brush to apply it. Thanks for looking!
jocake creation asked:
lovely! Did you do the stenciling after you put fondant icing on?? Is the broach a mould??
Just Delightful answered:
Yes, I stenciled it after covering it. The broach is a gumpaste mold painted with luster dust and silver highlighter. Thanks for looking!
lcasden asked:
I love the color and luster of the frosting! What is it?
Just Delightful answered:
The fondant is gray and the luster dust is teal by CK.
kjgm52 asked:
The zig zag at the bottom of the cake...is that fondant as well? Thank you
Just Delightful answered:
That's actually ribbon that I found which matched my luster dust.
