Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Cake, decorator icing, fondant and food coloring. What are you most proud of? This was my second wedding cake and it came out wonderfully. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't put yourself through agony trying to make flowers. It's simpler than you think. I did these by taking a heart shaped cookie cutter and cutting hearts out of fondant. I then cut them in half length wise, and wrapped the rounded edge of each half around a yellow cone shape made of fondant. I then curled the sharper edge of heart shape and laid them to stiffen while I covered the cake in decorator frosting. I then applied the lilies to look like they were falling down the cake, and then piped icing on the edges of each layer and the bottom. It was really very easy to do and the bride and groom loved the cake, as did their guests.
