Giggle and Hoot themed 3rd birthday cake

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake 6" and 8" cake rounds, fondant, modelling chocolate, button molds. What are you most proud of? I made my own button molds and think they look really cute. I also like the colours, the little orange and green 'house' motifs (which I followed around the back of the cake) and the effect on the bottom tier that I got by using a sponge. The ropes were really fiddly to prop up but I think they worked out really well in the end. I feel like I successfully incorporated quite a few different elements from the program - the ripped up cardboard effect, the bright funky colours, the 'mat' the owls are sitting on is actually a sort of reproduction of the green and yellow window, I like the cute buttons, ropes, and that overall sort of stitched-together scrapbooked look. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Leave yourself a lot of time and enjoy the process!
